I sweep the chimney or flue properly, not just a quick brush through the top. That means clearing the full length, checking the stove or open fire itself, and looking for anything that needs attention before it becomes a problem - a cracked liner, a build-up of tar, or a bird's nest blocking the flue.

A stove install is more than fitting the burner and connecting a pipe. I check the hearth and clearances are right for the model, make sure the flue is connected and sealed properly, and get everything commissioned before I consider the job finished.
Before I leave I'll run through how the stove works so you're not guessing at air controls or first fires. The paperwork's dealt with as part of the job, so you've got everything you need for building regs and insurance.
Flue Liner Installs in Truro

An old or damaged liner can stop a stove drawing properly or let heat and fumes get where they shouldn't. I fit flexible liners correctly from top to bottom, with the insulation and clamping done to a proper spec rather than a quick push-and-hope.
Once it's in, I check the connection at the stove end and confirm the draw is right before signing it off. If the existing chimney needs anything else doing while I'm up there, I'll flag it.
Twin Wall Installs in Truro

Where there's no existing chimney, a twin wall system takes the flue safely through the roof or wall instead. I plan the route to keep clearances right, fit the pipework to spec, and make sure the roof or wall exit is properly flashed and weatherproof.
Once it's up, the stove gets commissioned the same as any other install, with the paperwork sorted so it's all above board for building regs.
