Outdoor work has to survive weather the rest of the house doesn't, frost, standing water, ground movement. I build in proper drainage and levelling before any paving or planting goes down, so the finished garden doesn't start shifting or pooling water after the first hard winter.
Most of this work happens alongside a wider renovation, but I take on standalone garden projects too, a patio, a border rebuild, a boundary fence. The aim is always something that's practical to maintain, not just something that looks good in the first few weeks.
